How to track clicks on a link in bio page

Open the report after you publish. It counts views, which block was tapped, and where the visit started. You get country, device, and referrer. You do not get a list of names.

What gets counted

The numbers are the audience on the page. What someone buys after they leave stays with the other site.

  • Volume

    Views and uniques

Views, unique visitors, and who is on the page right now. Uniques use a daily anonymous hash. The public page has no cookie banner.

  • Taps

    Each block, on its own

Links, cards, players, social icons, and events are counted separately, with a click rate of clicks divided by views.

  • Source

    Where the visit started

Referrers, UTM tags, and click ids. Instagram and TikTok often hide the ordinary referrer. The in-app browser can still name the app.

  • Range

    History on every plan

7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or all time. That history is on every paid plan, not a higher tier.

What the report includes

The report includes views, unique visitors, clicks, and the click rate. Each link, card, player, social icon, and event that can be tapped is counted on its own. Countries are listed, and so is device, browser, and operating system.

A live panel shows who is on the page now and the latest taps. It is not a list of names. The same rule is in the privacy notes.

On the report

  • Views and unique visitors
  • Clicks per block
  • Referrers and UTM tags
  • Country, device, and browser

Referrers, including the in-app browsers

Referrers, UTM tags, and click ids are stored with the visit. Instagram and TikTok often hide the ordinary referrer. Visits from those apps still show up as Instagram or TikTok when the in-app browser or a click id gives them away.

Direct means they typed the URL, used a bookmark, or the app stripped the source. UTM tags already on a destination URL stay with the click. What happens after the tap belongs to that other site.

How a source shows up

  • Ordinary referrer when it exists
  • In-app browser for Instagram
  • In-app browser for TikTok
  • Direct when the source was stripped

Download the clicks

Download the clicks as CSV: time, type, which block, source, referrer, country, city, device, browser, operating system, and UTM tags. The page itself exports separately, as JSON, from the export page.

A tap on a shop link is a click. What happens after that click stays with the shop. We do not take a cut.

The CSV

  • Time and block
  • Source and referrer
  • Country and device
  • UTM tags

What the report leaves out

The report is counts, sources, and the block. It does not name the person. Publish the page, then open the numbers.

  • 1

    No names

You get counts, country, device, and referrer. You do not get a person’s name or an Instagram username.

  • 2

    No cookie banner

Counting is cookieless. A daily-rotating anonymous hash stands in for a unique visitor.

  • 3

A shop tap is a click

The sale stays on the shop. This report does not continue into that checkout.

  • 4
